    Mental Health by the Numbers

    • Over 60% of Pierce and St. Croix County female high school students report experiencing anxiety, compared to 32% of male students. Source: 2021 YRBS

    • In both Pierce and St. Croix counties, 16% of high school students have considered suicide, and most of those students report having a plan to do so. Source: 2021 YRBS

    • Pierce County saw an increase in death by suicide from two in 2020 to 7 in 2022.

    • St. Croix County has had 10 or more suicides per year from 2020 – 2022.

    • In Pierce and St. Croix Counties, 28% of adults report binge drinking, respectively, compared to 19% nationally. Source 2023 County Health Rankings

The COVID-19 pandemic changed, but did not stop, the work of Healthier Together and its members. In early 2022, Healthier Together compiled a report of work done on our priority areas during the pandemic, as well as our 2022 plans.
